Hello everyone!
I don't know if anyone still comes here but this is to revive the blog a little (:

---

It was a fine Thursday afternoon. The sun was shining, the clouds were drifting across the sky and the breeze was just right. It was a perfect weather for an adventure. Having planned this outing for quite some time, both the father and son were excited to set out form home and climb the hill nearby home. They walked past a field of colourful flowers. The breeze had caught the fragrance from the field and it filled the air. They pretended that they were on a quest to find a hidden treasure, on that has been lost for a thousand years. They started walking further and further away from home, helping each other hand in hand.

All of a sudden, the little boy exclaimed, "Look Daddy! There's a tunnel! Can we go explore it? Can we? Can we? Please?" He shot his father the biggest grin across his face. The father chuckled. Having been through it before, he told the boy that it was a long journey and there were many bandits hiding in the tunnel and in order to walk to the end of the tunnel, they would require their flashlights. The little boy perked up, took out his flashlight and wave it about in the air. He excitedly replied, "Here it is! Here it is! And I'm a brave explorer! I have been on many adventures and fought with many bad guys!" The little boy proceeded to put it into the side pocket of his backpack. The father chuckled and showed his son his flashlight and he too, put it in the side pocket of his backpack. He said, "Seems like you are a brave explorer! Let's head into the cave and find ourselves the hidden treasure then!" The little boy's eyes lit up and it made the father smile.

Ten minutes into the "cave", the little boy started to feel a bit jittery. He was starting to regret his decision. The tunnel was cold and dark. The father noticed the change in his son's mannerism but he had decided to keep quiet till his son spoke up about it. They continued to walk deeper and deeper into the tunnel. Suddenly, the little boy stopped in his tracks. With tears in his eyes, the little boy cried out, "Daddy, I'm scared. We been walking for so long and I still don't see the end of the tunnel. Daddy, are we lost? Daddy, I don't want to walk anymore." The father stopped, knelt down and said gently, "What happened to the brave explorer I know? The one who has been on many adventures and fought off many bad guys?"

"Daddy, I don't want to continue on this adventure anymore. It's dark and scary. The tunnel seems to be never ending. And I don't want to fight the bad guys. I just want to go out now," the little boy replied, choking up in his tears. The father gave his son a hug and said, "You chose to come into the tunnel for an adventure. You can't give up now. Persevere! I know it's dark but that's why I told you to get your flashlight ready, isn't it? You just have to switch it on that's all." He then took out the flashlight and switched it on. The boy wiped his tears on his sleeve and took the flashlight from his father. He said, "Thank you daddy, I forgot about the flashlight." The little boy started to walk again, this time, feeling slightly braver than before because the tunnel was no longer dark and scary but it had that little light to guide the little boy through and out of the tunnel. Shortly after, the little boy saw the light at the end of the tunnel and was excited to know that he had managed to walk through the tunnel. A wide smile, showing his two missing front teeth, appeared on the little boy's face and he exclaimed, "Look Daddy! The treasure! The treasure!" Together, they ran out of the tunnel.

"I knew you could do it! Because you persevered, you get your rewards in return," the father said reassuringly as he scooped up his son for a hug. The son looked into his father's eyes and asked, "Daddy, you knew we were nearly there right? You knew we only had to walk a little more right?" The father just laughed and smiled at his son.

---

God is like the father in the story and we are like the son. Things may get tough but God says, "I've packed your your flashlight. Remember to use it!"

I hope this speaks to you (:
